Working Group Coordinator Session 4: Future horizons and their respective ethical dilemmas

 

Paul Twomey co-founded Stash, the datacentric security company, is a founding figure and former CEO of ICANN (the technical protocol coordinator for the global Internet), and founded Argo P@cific, a cyber security consulting firm. He was formerly the chief executive officer of the Australian government’s National Office for the Information Economy and the Australian government’s Special Adviser for the Information Economy and Technology.  Paul is a Distinguished Fellow at the Centre for International Governance Innovation.  He is also the chairman of CyberGreen Institute, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting a public health approach to improving global cyber safety, and a member of the Global Information Infrastructure Commission and the Global Commission on Internet Governance. He is co-chairman of the Digital Economy and Future of Work Task Force for the Think20 organ of the G20.  Paul worked in his earlier career with Jesuit social ministries, including the Jesuit Refugee Service.  He has more recently also provided advice to the Vatican on the process whereby the Holy See successfully applied for the dot Catholic Top Level Domain.   Paul holds a Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge.
